NOTICE OF RACE

 

The Dolphin Yacht Club Sal Spignese Memorial Regatta

July 5, 2008

 

Rules

 

This regatta will be governed by the International Sailing Federation Racing Rules of Sailing for 2005-2008, the prescription of US SAILING, the By-Laws of PHRF-New England, this portion of the Notice of Race (except as any of these are altered by the Sailing Instructions) and the Sailing Instructions. All yachts are expected to carry Coast Guard required safety equipment as a minimum.

 

Classes and Divisions

 

There will be one racing boat division and one cruising boat division. The assignment of an entrant to 'racing boat' or 'cruising boat' division, will be at the discretion of the Dolphin Y.C. Race Committee.

 

Eligibility

 

The regatta is open to all monohull sailing yachts. Those yachts without a current valid handicap certificate issued by PHRF-New England will be assigned a handicap by the Dolphin Y.C. Race Committee.

Fees

 

Race entry: $25.00.

Saturday night party: $15.00 per person

 

Sail Limitation

 

All yachts shall be limited to "working sails." No spinnakers or free-flying sails shall be used. The sails of yachts sailing in the "Cruising Division" shall be constructed from dacron or mylar-dacron only. The sails of yachts sailing in the "Racing Division" may employ any material.

 

Race Schedule

 

The Warning Gun (first gun) shall be at 13:30 hours.

 

Skipper's Meeting

 

At 11:00 hours at the Dolphin Yacht Club on Saturday July 5, 2008.

 

Courses and Sailing Area

 

Racing will be conducted in Massachusetts Bay off Marblehead Harbor. Course patterns will be described in the Sailing Instructions and signaled at the start. This is pursuit race with the slowest rated boats starting first. Each boat's individual start time will be provided in the sailing instructions.

 

Trophies

 

Trophies will be awarded to the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place finishers in each division at about 18:00 hours.

 

Mooring Information

 

Moorings will be available on a first come, first served basis at no charge for Saturday night. Contact the Dolphin Dockmaster at (781)-631-8000.

 

Social Activities

 

After the race: All skippers and crew are invited to the Dolphin Yacht Club after the race for chowder.

Saturday Night Party: Passed hor d'oeuvres with live entertainment.
